MAXX-Strength™ Construction.
Designed to face the most demanding conditions, Ferrara fire trucks are built with our extra-heavy-duty MAXX-Strength construction. We engineer strength into our chassis and bodies using specially molded thicker aluminum extrusions and robust Domex® steel frame rails. Continuous, V-channel welds and extruded 2″ x 4″ gussets at each 90° joint add another level of toughness. With MAXX-Strength construction, every Ferrara fire truck is built to be as resilient as those who operate them.
Built to Withstand. Designed to Protect.
Ferrara fire apparatus are engineered for unmatched durability, starting with all extrusions built to a more robust 3/16″ wall thickness. The chassis features Domex® steel frame rails, with optional full-length liners and frame-rail front bumper construction for added strength. Every weld is continuous—crafted with a root pass and two filler passes rather than simple tack welds—for superior structural integrity. Extrusion ends are beveled at 45° and sanded to form a valley when joined, allowing full weld penetration and resulting in a stronger, more secure bond. To further reinforce the body, subframes are constructed with full-width cross-members and 2″ x 4″ extruded gussets on both the top and bottom.
